The Actor's Toolbox: Performing Shakespeare
Shakespeare can feel intimidating: the language, the length, the reputation. This four-day Actor’s Toolbox masterclass is designed to take the fear out of Shakespeare and replace it with practical tools, clarity, and play.
Working from first principles, participants will learn how to read Shakespeare’s text, understand what is actually being said, and translate it into clear, playable acting choices. The focus is not on “doing Shakespeare properly,” but on making the work relatable, human, and performable.
The course culminates in a supportive, stress-free audition preparation session, demystifying the audition process and giving participants the chance to practice in a safe environment. We will be staging a Shakespearean production in the Summer, and all workshop participants will be invited to audition after the end of this course.
No prior Shakespeare experience required—just curiosity and a willingness to work.
